The Annual General Body Meeting of theSt. John's Alumni Association for the Year 2006 started with an informal get together over a sumptuous lunch, after which the meeting commenced Dr. Reji Koshy Thomas, President, SJMCAA welcomed the gathering and elaborated the thrust areas of the association activities for the year 2006-07. Dr. Ragini Macaden, retired Professor & Head, Dept. of Microbiology, and Ex. Vice-Dean, SJMC was felicitated for meritorious service rendered to the institution.
Dr. Bobby Joseph read the Secretary's Report for the Year 2005-06. He lauded the continuing contribution of the North American Chapter of St. John's Alumni Association, especially in funding the construction of the Operation Theatre at the Pilar Health Centre at Port Blair and helping the faculty for overseas training.
The statement of accounts for 2005-06 was presented. Other Points of interest and importance were discussed. The St. John's Alumni Association website was also discussed at length. It was suggested to enhance inputs into the website and engage an IT professional to help host it. A group of alumni could be formed to edit its contents along with the Communication Secretary. It was suggested that the websites could be hosted from St. John's or elsewhere.
Dr. Prem Pais, our beloved Dean exhorted the alumni to create a vision for 2015 and look beyond its routine activities. As Patron, he also conducted the Annual elections to the executive committee, and the following members were elected to office for the year 2006-2007.
